I think that sometimes feminists who are proud to be female forget that being a feminist is not really about being a woman. It’s about equality for ALL people, ALL genders, ALL sexualities.I might send the OP of the FB post a message about how hurtful that mislead train of thought is. I hate that she uses the term “radical feminist”, what is radical about denying your privileges and oppressing the struggles of others? No one is attacking her right to be a female by being transgender. ugh.Exactly, the dismantling of the patriarchy, and more importantly, the kyriarchy needs to be based on liberation for all, and to get there we need to check our privilege
The term “radical feminist” has unfortunately been hijacked by a load of, to put it lightly, knobheads. Their views aren’t radical at all and in actuality, what they’re pedaling is the same old second and third wave shit of transphobia, exclusion and white, middle-class cisgender feminism that is frankly, a load of bullshit and I’d rather lick my own armpit than have anything to do with.
It’s hard being a cisgender woman. We all fucking know that, but you know what’s a lot harder? Being a transwoman. The women in that facebook group are too scared to say that because they think it will undermine their struggle. In fact, it will strengthen it because feminism NEEDS transwomen. We need cis and trans* solidarity, and together we can fuck up the patriarchy, the kyriarchy and go forward.
